After 365 days of travelling and nearly 70,000 miles, we have finally made it back home to England! We landed back at London Gatwick Airport to an emotional welcome home from our parents, who had come to meet us at the airport and it was so great to see them after such a long time away. We were soon back at Elaine’s Mum & Dad’s house, drinking our first cup of English tea for a long time, and enjoying a good bacon sandwich again to wake us up after our long flight across the pond! We’ve been back a few days now, and it is only just beginning to sink in. We’ve travelled through 15 countries, enjoying every single one, and most we would return to again as well. Somehow, we have managed to take over ... read more

Thursday/Saturday, June 26-28 We are back to the USA! I am writing this final blog on Sunday, June 29, 2008. I will do a brief wrap up of our return trip. We are happy to be home but it seems strange to have no place to go. We had the time of our lives. We have lots of people to thank for their support. I also want to thank all of our blog readers. I saw noticed on the travel blog site that I have had over 1600 hits on the blogs. Thank you for taking the time to follow our journey. Thursday This was our planned return date. Dianne and John were returning too. We all were traveling on a stand-by basis. However, we did not have the same priority. John works for Delta and ... read more

Monday, June 23 Dublin-John/Dianne arrive I am writing this blog late. It is now Thursday, 26 June. This is the longest period that I have gotten behind. But, since Dianne and John arrived in Ireland, we’ve not had a moment to write and upload the blog. Also, if you are keeping up with the blogs, you would know that we should be flying back at this time. Only, we are not on our way. In fact, after a long day at the airport, we have just checked in to a nearby hotel. You will hear a lot about this day and all the others if you just read ahead. June 23 (Dublin) We planned to meet Dianne and John on Monday morning. They were flying directly in from Atlanta. Their flight was to arrive at 9:30am. ... read more

England... indeed, but before that there was 20 hours in spent in stupid security lines dealing with stupid security officers in stupid american cities which left me drained and fiending for something more than coffee nd doughnuts... i had been up all night and i needed strong drink... luckily the duty free in Detroit had 1.7 litre bottles of Jack Daniels for $24 and by the time i had cruised through downtown detroit trying to find 8 mile for close to 3 hours i was ready to sit back drink whiskey and cokes and let the knobhead of a pilot fly me across the atlantic. I say knobhead because he really was a tool, besides fucking up the basic piloting skill of landing (he bounced 3 times, idiot) he welcomed us in the name of the ... read more

Day 2: I arrived at the Gatwick Airport around 10:05am. Walking down the long corridor to 'enter' the UK took at least 10 minutes! There were long hallways... I thought they would never end. But the biggest line was really the customs line! Wow, the European Union line snaked around 7-8 times, where as the 'other' countries line snaked at least 10 times. So there I waited with the 'others'. "No Pictures or Video recording allowed." Well, not just there... at all Security areas. In about 10 minutes, the EU line had cut in half while I only moved a few feet. Finally reaching the front, I saw the EU was non-existent and it had opened up its side for the rest of the 'other' countries. I stated my reason for entering the UK (I'm going ... read more

Hello all! Well, we arrived in England and are safe and sound. Seems almost unreal waking up with just Matt and I overseas. The Clough family has taken us in and have already done a lot for us. We have only been here 2 days and are already having a great time. The family all took off work to hang out with us so our schedule is full of things to do. Today was our 'cultural day', and we spent most of it in Stratford-Upon-Avon, which is the birthplace of William Shakespear. We drove through a few old towns and got to see much of the the old English architecture. Tomorrow is sort of a chill out day and Friday will be the grand tour of London. Matt and I are having a hard time trying ... read more

So last night Ted & Shea got me plastered. Totally and completely gone! That's what I get when I try to out drink 2 boys who are much much bigger than me. Anyway I passed out at the dundas, lost my glasses, woke up an hour before my flight in the wrong city and realised I hadn't packed. Then I poured myself into ted's car, demanded he speed me home, threw my entire underwear drawer into a suitcase and barely cleared customs. Past that I thought about throwing up on the plane then decided to fall asleep. So I arrived in London completely better but a little bit twitchy. I checked in, my roomate wasn't there. AIFS (my travel program) had assigned her to me so I had never met her before. And being the brilliant ... read more
