Stonehenge
can finally scratch that off the list A lot has been happening round here! Christmas is coming and Flat 12 is feeling it! Today, since Theatre class was cancelled, Jessica and I walked down to Paperchase (some sort of fancy office supply and decoration store) and got a Christmas tree. With it, we bought a box of wooden ornaments, a star topper, and some silver tinsel garland. We split the cost among everyone in the flat so each of us only ended up paying £3. I also bought a little tiny tiny tree and decorated it as well for Christopher, since his house never has a tree. I plan on giving it to him tonight when he comes over after work, because we are going to see Eddie Izzard! He's only been my favourite comedian since forever! Okay only since the summer that I worked on base, I used to listen to an online comedy radio, and I found this cheeky little British transvestite and have been hooked ever since.
AND I leave for Paris bright and early tomorrow morning, so that supper long blog on that whole trip will probably come in a week or so.
The last trips I made, as you can see
All of us
Back row (left to right): Matt, Christine, Francia, Jacy, Arielle, Andy, Me, Jessica. Front Shorties: Techie and Jette were to Stonehenge and Bath on Friday. We got up at some God-awful hour as we had to catch a coach before 8. But I wasn't too fussed because I knew it would be a long drive so I could sleep then. But Andy fell asleep on me and I was stuck in a bit of an uncomfortable position but I didn't want to move because that would have woken him up, and I probably would have still been uncomfortable. I hate coach seats. When we got there, it was miles and miles of fields all around. Every where you looked was green sky dotted with wholly clouds, aka sheep. We had to walk through a subway (underpass) to get to Stonehenge so I didn't see it until we were right on it. My first imression was that it was small. Much smaller than pictures make it out to be. And you can get closer than I anticipated. But once you walked around to the other side, the side that you mostly see pictures taken from, it looked more familiar and larger, in other words, it started to actually look like Stonehenge. We spent about an hour there, running around,
Sheeps
are my new favourite animal slipping in the mud, taking pictures of the sheep and the rocks.
When we got back on the coach, still waiting in the car park, Andy and I listened to Eddie Izzard's sketch about stone henge on my ipod. Listening to that, like I have thousands of times before, while being at Stonehenge was a bit surreal, to sound really dramatic.
It was about another hour on a coach to the town of Bath, in Somerset in the very (southish) west of England. You can see bits of Wales from it. There our main attraction was the Roman Baths, which were absolutely beautiful. They were built on a natural hot spring, and it was a cold day so steam was rising off of them. I wanted to jump in so bad, and my fingers were frozen so I just dipped those in. Then I saw a sign that said not to drink or touch the water because it was untreated. whoops.
I meant to buy a cup of water from the springs to drink, because it is sort of like England's fountain of youth. It was especially popular in Victorian times when people would come 'take the

looks kinda small waters' for it's healing powers. It's supposed to taste really bad, but it is one of those must-dos. And I completely forgot!
Oh well, I'll probably go back in the spring, I'll do it then.
There was an outdoor market that we spent some time going through, all the holiday things were so cute. I can't wait 'till Christmas! We ate at a pub called The Crystal Palace, and I wish I would have remembered to get bangers and mash. I have yet to try that, even though it is just sausages and mashed potatoes.
oh! At the Bath gift shop I bought a recipe book of tonnes of English recipes separated by time periods like, Ancient Roman, Victorian, Georgian, Medieval, etc. It was £10 (about $15) but give me a break 'cause it's my first real souvenir. And I really really wanted it! It's got a lot about the history of cooking and daily life, which is what I have always been interested in, so I have read about half by now. Chris and I might give a few recipes a try, even though some are very weird.
I'll be home in 22 days 8
