The battle field at the start of the reenactment battle
Well, I'm on my last week with family in the midlands now, having toured a few castles, and seen various relatives. We've been to Hardwick Hall and Chattsworth house (large stately homes), Belvoir Castle, Willersly Castle, and a few days out eating at pubs and driving in the english countryside. Today was good, since we saw a re-enactment battle put on by a group called "The Sealed Knot" (a volunteer group who specialize in putting on English Civil War battles on holiday weekends). The battle we saw was a reenactment of a clash of the royalist army of King Charles the 1st and the invading armies of parlement (Oliver Cromwell era prior to Charles the 1sts capture and eventual beheading). I'll put up a few video clips which show the shear size of the reenactement armies, and some musket and cannon fire. I'll also put of a few pics of the places we've been.
