Boy, did it ever feel good to get out of our stateroom, nice as it was. Even though the day after Dianne’s visit to Newcastle was an “at sea” day, at least I got to walk around the ship, visit the library/games room and stop at the ice cream stand. The church is literally on the gate. You go up the stairs through the doors on the right and turn left. Those are the side windows of a lovely little church that is still in use. Kingsgate is one of two gates still in existence.

A peaceful oasis in Winchester. We came across the swans and their cygnet.

At least it was purported to be King Arthur's from the 6th century. Well, that's probably just a legend but the table has been dated to the 1200s so it is still pretty impressive.

This statue appears outside the library. Pretty impressive woman considering the times she lived in.

In the 1906-1911 time period, the water table got so high that the cathedral was in danger of sinking. William Walker donned his gear and dove down into the water to shore up the foundation.
