The flight seemed to go pretty smooth until 1 hour before landing the captain tells us that they are having some severe gales in England and that some planes this morning have been re-directed to Amsterdam - oh no! The captain then tells us that we have to circle a while to wait for permisson from ground countrol to land and it may be quite bumpy, but fortunatley we only have to wait 20 minutes extra and the landing is no where near as bad as they were making out - I had scenes from 'Lost' going round in my head and everything! We land, get transported over from Terminal 4 to terminal 1 and it's only here we find that our flight to Manchester has been cancelled - along with 25 other BA flights. We ... read more

Seeing as my brother Todd was going home to NZ in a week and his 21st birthday was on the 24th of September it meant that Jaimee and I wouldn’t get to see him on his actual birthday. Therefore we arranged to throw him a party at his cricket club in Wigan that coincided with his last match. On the Friday night Todd’s teammates turned up to the club and we all had a few drinks and a heap of pizza before Todd was presented some gifts from the club including a Wigan football shirt. Todd then gave a speech thanking the club and others including his flatmate Foster. Next was birthday cake and the night finished with the showing of a DVD featuring photos of Todd throughout his life that Jaimee had made. Everyone cracked ... read more

After packing up the flat and saying my goodbyes to the flatties I trained up to Wigan to catch up with my brother Todd. He is the overseas cricket professional for a club called Highfield. He is being put up by one of the guys from the club who seems like a real good sort, so Todd has landed on his feet there. The first night Todd and I just sat and talked for hours about all that we had been up to for the last 10 months or so since we had last seen each other. We also reminisced about our childhood and Todd’s ambition to become a pro cricketer and own a sweet store. I suppose one out of two ain’t bad. Todd treated me to the delights of Wigan on Tuesday.
