Wigan have just beaten City in the FA Cup final. Weve been back at the hotel for the last half hour, and ive watched the end of the match. Im lying here exhausted after another very, very busy day. Ive got half hour to write something now before we head back to Brick Lane for dinner with Dan.We were up this morning around 8. We jumped on the Tube to London Bridge Station, our first destination of the day being Shakespeares Globe Theatre. We arrived in time for the 9.30am guided tour again included on our London passes. Whilst a recreation of the initial theatre burned down in the 1620s, it was still an impressive tour, and a place id like to return to for an actual play in the future.Being next door to the Tate Modern, and having missed it on my last time to Europe, I thought we could check it out. Modern art isnt my thing really, and that wasnt to change today. It was a bit of a laugh really, my favourites being the tray with pickaxe to represent a goat, and artistic movie that flicked between dirty toilet with organ music to a girl
in a bathing suit with circus music.Onwards then, back to London Bridge, for 'The London Bridge Experience'. This was a scary two part acted experience. The first part being re-enacted aspects of the story and history of the bridge, told by Romans, bartenders, torturers, etc. The second part, the Tombs, was something different. About 15 of us were sent underground, in the dark in a conga line essentially, hands to shoulders to navigate a maze of horrors, zombies, ghouls, creatures and grand finale of a chainsaw weilding fiend. There were bloodstained walls, squueze spaces, clowns, dolls and all sorts of frightening encounters. Fun!We got back onto the tube bound for Camden Town exit. It was a 20 minute walk on the the ZSL London Zoo. We arrived around 1 having the afternoon to explore. Lunch there was delicious fish n chips. It was a pretty good zoo overall, and tge weather held up nicely. Notable experiences were Otter feeding show, farm petting zoo, Birds of prey show, tiger exhibit, taipirs, gorillas and bugs exhibit. My favourite of the day I think however, was the Aardvarks. Id never seen one before and the exhibit included long small tubes you could crawl
through to get up close. Youre never too old for that!Well its near 8 now and the rains started to fall. Jackets on for our trip to Brick Lane.We ate at Shiraz restaurant on Brick Lane. It was a little pricier and better than our last curry here. The highlight for me was an excellent Italian red wine. We stopped by for 1 cocktail at Martys before turning in around 11. The end count of cost for the London Pass would have been around 110£ each. The cost was 61£ each for the two days so we saved quite a bit.
