Chris & Dot leave St LouisChris & Dot leave St LouisChris & Dot leave St Louis

Leaving St Louis for our adventures. Next stop London (after Charlotte, NC)
Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236

Arrived today around noon. We left Charlotte about 11 p.m. - running a little late due to a sick crew member. No, we did not get much sleep. We tried. It is hopeless. Dozed a little here and there. No problems with baggage or customs or anything. Everything went smoothly.

This afternoon we explored our Notting Hill area where we are staying and walked through the Portabello Market, which is this very long street full of cute shops and then today and tomorrow they add stalls in the street for a street market day. All kinds of stuff. Really fun environment. Lots of treats and weird looking people.

Check out the photos for more info. It is 7:45 p.m. and we are still awake. We are doing good.
Tomorrow will be busy, full touristy day.

Took the train from Heathrow to Paddington Station. Wasn't quite as quaint as it was in the movie. But...we saw Paddington Bear.

After checking into our hotel we went exploring at Portabello Market which is in the Notting Hill district. Today was market day with street vendors plus all the cute shops.

Cupcakes!

An early stop was this Hummingbird Bakery. I was going to eat my cup caking while walking down the street, until they boxed it up in this cute little box.

Of course, after I eat my cupcake we see (and smell) them making crepes on the street. And also, just down the street, the most amazing looking waffles covered in all kinds of topics - ice cream, caramel, chocolate sauce, fruit. I think we are going back tomorrow.

I don't like olives but they were displayed beautifully and smelled wonderful.

I know Dr Hammerman will be appalled, but we were too tired to go out for a nice dinner. We picked up some French Goat cheese, French cheddar, italian salami and a wonderfully fresh baguette. it was perfect
