Great way to start the day
Dot's full English breakfast: eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and beans. She was in heaven. and of course, tea and hot chocolate. Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236
Busy, fun day. You can see pictures of our breakfast below. Then we headed for the tourist attractions. Tried Westminster Abbey, took some pictures but the line was too long and it was outside where it was very windy and chilly. So we moved on to Parliament Square and then to the Churchill War Museum, which was surprisingly fascinating. It is in the actual building and rooms below ground where Churchill ran the war. Small, tiny rooms the leaders had to sleep in. Old scrambled phones. We heard an actual recording of Churchill talking on the phone with FDR. I have a pic of the war room below. They reset the rooms exactly as they were at the time.
Had lunch at an old pub in the theatre district where I had my traditional Fish n Chips. It was excellent (a Rick Steve's recommendation). Of course, no free refills on the soda. (I did ask) It was killing me. Tiny little cups, too. Dot had a small salad (since she was still full from her giant English breakfast). I ordered at the bar and they didn't ask me what kind of dressing. We don't think it had any dressing
on it. She used my tartar sauce, my lemon and some vinegar that they use on the fried fish, and a little ketchup. She ended up eating some salad, my peas (ick) and a little of my fish.
On our walk from Parliament Square to the theatre district, we made some new friends –see helmut guy below. We also passed about 20 book stores – all different and interesting. It seems strange when you can barely find a book store at home anymore.
This afternoon, we had tickets to Miss Saigon – 25th anniversary revival at the Prince Edward Theatre. Beautiful theatre. We were in the 5th row, dead center. Amazing seats for an amazing production. Great job Dot. All of the singers were great. The staging was amazing and some of the production numbers were much more elaborate than in the original production.
We met a family from St Louis on the Underground. The guy was wearing a Cardinal hat. They were seeing many of the same sites that we were. Small world.
Dot's Fitbit is at 17,000 steps today. We can do better than that. I guess 3 hours in the theatre hurt. We walked all over the place today. It is
Dot with Winston Churchill
At Parliament Square in front of the Winston Churchill statue. No pigeons on his head. fascinating just walking around the different areas and seeing the shops and the people. Today we were in Soho, Bayswater, Notting Hill, theatre district, Covent Garden and Westminster.
I bought the most delicious cookies in a souvenir shop – Clotted Cream Shortbread cookies. I love them.
I am trying not to drive myself crazy this trip looking for Pepsi. However, we have a small kitchenette in our room, so I found some Pepsi at the small grocer and stocked up. Not even looking for fountain soda. Passed several McDonalds today and didn't even blink.
Sorry Dee – we haven't had any ice cream or gelato yet.-
Tomorrow afternoon is our bike tour. Yay!

Love the pics! It sounds like you did a lot, even missing the 3 hours at the theatre.
