Big Ben and the Parliament Buildings

Big Ben and the Parliament Buildings
This morning I met my new roommate, Megan (from Florida) and it turned out she was actually on my tour! I spent the morning on my own, doing some shopping. Yep, more shopping. I also went to Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament, and Big Ben. It was a pretty cloudy day today. Sometimes it's nice just to spend some time alone, especially since I was going to be with 50 other people for the next 6 weeks.

A lot of people from the tour arrived today. A big group of us decided to go out for dinner tonight. Italian again? Yep! Before dinner I met Christine, who was also from B.C. We hung out in her room and chatted for a bit. We met up with Megan, then went down to the lobby, where we met Alisha, Sam, Tommy, Jamie, Kelsie, and Daisy, all from Australia. Everyone was really chill and fun to be around, so I knew we had a good group. We went to Leicester Square for dinner. I ordered a random alcoholic drink off the menu and when it arrived, and I tasted it, it was the most disgusting thing I've ever drank. Nobody at our

table could drink it. Be warned: Never order a campari and soda! For dinner I had spaghetti carbonara, which was really good though.

After dinner we went out to a pub where we got a few more drinks, before ending the night at a club called Verve. I hadn't brought my ID with me (the legal drinking age is 18 and I was almost 21), but they wouldn't let me in without proving my age. Luckily, my friends were able to convince them that I wasn't lying, and I was allowed in. Come on, I don't look that young! Guess I'll take it as a compliment. We are pretty sure it was a gay bar, but we still had a great time. There were definitely some interesting people there! We got back to the hotel at about 2 am.

What did I learn today? Taking two nights off in the hopes of feeling better won't work, so you might as well go out and get drunk anyway :P
