So after waking up insanely early (3 am) - thanks jet lag - I finally gotaback to bed only to discover that 8:15 comes pretty quick. We got up and had a smashing English breakfast at our hotel before rushing out to start our first proper day in London. Our first stop was the Tower of London. We went on a very nice guided tour and heard all about the Towers gruesome history, the murder, the torture and the traitors!
We spent most of the day there, we had a late lunch and decided to head off to St. Paul's Cathedral. We arrived there at about quarter to 4 and decided that £14 was a little pricey to see a cathedral, especially considering that they were closing in just over 30 minutes.
We decided to do a bit of window shopping on the way to the theater district. We found a nice restaurant called Garfunkel's and had dinner. We managed to find the theater that Mama Mia was playing at, The Prince of Wales, and went in to ask if they sold cheaper day of tickets in the mornings. A view of the Tower of London from across the road. didn't do that but if we wanted to see a performance today she could get us a discount. We said alright and managedsang snag some nice £39.50 tickets for only £20. We rushed back to our hotel to change and freshen up before the play started.
It was a good play, chock full of ABBA songs, most I knew and a few that I didn't.
After an early morning and a full day, we are shattered and will get a good sleep tonight.
