Easter Friday. I am sitting at our Nelson friends home in Teddington, using there laptop, having just watched a DVD. They have gone to Praque for the weekend and we are enjoying being in a home with all the facilities. Don't get me wrong, I'm not moaning and we havn'y had to really rough it BUT: We are lucky we have free accommodation in Southgate (N14) but we don't have a TV, table or chairs and we just bought a microwave 3 days ago, until then we had no cooking facilities. We do have a bed, heating and bathing and toilet facilities. The place we are staying at is being renovated, that means scaffolders, builders and brickkies are part of our life and share our kitchen and toilet. My friend David (also the landlord) assurs me in 3 months it will be like a palace. We are both struggling to find employment but as Anita says we are do the foundations for the future and have enrolled in the health system, the libary and are becoming very familair with our surroundings and the enormity of living in London. We are lucky we have the support of others but have been frustrated with some of the beauracratic bullshit and the enability to discuss employment opportunities directly with people in the field. We have had lots of hints/tips and leads but it has been difficult to grasp on to anything concrete. The weather has been grey to say the least. It was sunny Tuesday morning, I ventured out in shorts and 1 hour later was freezing with a sudden drop in temp (the brickkies did warn me). Wednesday night Anita and I treated ourselves(she really shouted me) to the Lion King. It was awesome, bought tears to our eyes, we really new we were in London and a tate of what will be on a more regular basis when we start work. We remain optimistic that we i return with the next entry we wikk be employed. Enjoy your awesome summer, we're sur missing it and my Phoket tan is fading quickly
