back to jolly old england

Well I made it back to London, with my new temporary passport and all! how excellent.

so yesterday I got up and went to teh embassy to pick up my new passport. no problems which was nice.

Then I hopped on the metro to head south of town, then onto a suburban train to ostia antica. its the port city of ancient rome (it was so long ago that its not even on the river or the ocean any more). It was kinda creepy looking at all the ruins but totally interesting. Its like Pompeii except it was just abandoned when Rome fell instead of being buried by a volcano. Lots of big buildings, old toilets (very strange, and very public), a forum, theatre, etc etc. spent a little while walking around there, then headed back into the city on the train again.

stayed a little low key last night, went for a walk to piazza del poppolo (not spelled right) just because it was in Angels and Demons. Had more gelato (i miss it).

This morning got up early to head to termini train station to catch the bus to the airport or the flight back to london. pretty uneventful.

except on the train from gatwick airport back into london there were some SMELLY people in my car. like, body odor smelly gross. nasty. thank god it was only a half hour. got to the hostel no trouble, but the weather here today was the pits, rain, fog, typical london stuff. so i went to teh winston churchill museum and where he and his buds hung out during the war. interesting but a little boring. then off to the national portrait gallery to see paintings of all the people in british history. again interesting, but a little boring

went out to supper with lori and gary for italian which was delicious! now i have heartburn.

this entry sucks but i have 2 mins left to my internet time.

home in 2 days. boooooooo
