Our New FriendsOur New FriendsOur New Friends

We took this one ourselves.
Hi-Ho, Liz here.

Pia and I have grown tired of writing in the Royal 'We', so we'll be doing solo entries from now on. Sigh. Le Divorce. But we still like each other! Really.

Anyway, we're staying in London at the moment, packing more into every day than I thought was humanly possible. It's so expensive to stay here that we've condensed our visit to a mere three days -- We're hella-busy.

Lots-o-London

* "Saw" changing of the guards. (Actually mostly saw backs of strangers' heads).
* Used luxury toilet in Harrods. Also saw scupture of fish made of butter. Also gazed longingly upon "Chocolate Bar" Cafe.
* Museums - Tate Modern, National Gallery.
* Waded through pigeons in Tralfagar Square.
* Met scary French man who tried to kiss us both (narrow escape).
* Went on Beatles walk. Saw Paul's office. No Paul.
* Ate full English breakfast. Mmm...Greasy and plentiful.
* Took tube. Pia promptly lost tube pass. Purchased new tube pass.
* Took double decker tour bus.
* Saw Les Miserables at The Queen's Theatre in the West End.
* Walked through China town.
* Big Ben, Houses of Parliament. Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, Picadilly Circus, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey (viewed from the outside)

London is beautiful and I wish we had more time here, but we've managed to cram in quite a lot. Tomorrow we're heading off to Brighton to relax by the seaside for a bit, which I'm sure will be near-tropical, right? It's so, SO cold here. So. Cold.

Ta-ta for now!

Liz

Cheerio!
Hello ladies! Sorry it's taken me so long to send a salutation your way... in case you've forgotten, it is currently midterm time at good ol' UVic. YAY! Oh, and it's also that time again where the ENTIRE campus bunny population is in reproduction mode. Hahaha! Man, you guys are missing out big time!! Anyways, enough about me... just wanted to say I'm glad you're surviving Britain so far and, yeah, Brighton should be significantly milder than most other places. Don't forget to venture into the trendy side streets of downtown Brighton... makes for a very interesting window-shopping experience! As well, after you leave the island, and if you have a little extra time, consider making a stop in San Sebastian in northern Spain. It's a quiet, picturesque little town centered around a beautiful bay. Check it out in your guide books! Anyway, that's all I got. Buena suerte! Kel ;) P.S. have you tried scones with jam and (Devon) cream?? Do it, just do it. - K-Ro

london is brill
glad to hear you're having a blast in london (my fave city) and that you got a chance to check out les mis in the west end (i did too!). i know you're off to brighton now, but if you get a chance to wander the streets of london again, the tower of london is one of the coolest castles/fortresses ev-ah. notting hill market is fab (and apparently that famous blue door does exist!). covent garden is entertaining with its oh-so-talented street buskers and good ol' peoplewatching. and if you're feeling homesick at all, stop by "the maple leaf" pub in covent garden... they have canadian on tap (and an oilers hockey pennant on the wall! go oil! sorry, still can't cheer for them flames!). ah, you're making me nostalgic of my days backpacking in europe! keep the stories coming, be safe and have the time of your life! :) - mich
