We passed the now empty Dome on the way. Leyton Orient Vs Gillingham. 7.45pm Ko.
My first away trip of the season was spoilt by Matt Lockwood. Since when did u ever hear of a left back scoring a hattrick in 21 mins???? I was so miffed i almost didn't write this blog, but thought better of it fearing repercussions from the Random Army that is still growing!
We skipped off work early, and drove up to Leyton Orient throught the Blackwall Tunnel. Willis was quick to tell me that she did not like this one as it was too tight and thougth we were going to get squashed! Never fear the Rover emerged unscathed!! Traffic was heavy gettin into Leytonstone, but once in we parked up just one street away from the ground!! Last space in the road. Then it was off to KFC for some dinner. Sadly, there were no seats so we took position standing at a bar in the window watching the world go by. My Tower Burger was still intact when we spotted Asiff from down our road!! Much waving and pointing followed before he got the message the Burger was not up for sharing!!
Once we had eaten we made our

All new panoramic including the posh flat! way to the ground. It soon became apparent that although it was only 7.10pm all the programmes had been sold!! Only 300 were printed for away fans and 1100 Gills fans turned up!! To make things worse when we got inside, the stewards were playing silly buggers only filling up certain sections of our allocation. Meaning much waiting around singin "who ate all the pies" to the tubby boy steward. Eventually they gave in and Willis and i charged up the back to get the best seats and try to avoid the pilars from spoiling our view.
Now, the east stand we were in is quite old and the seats weren't much but there was plenty of legroom, only one post in my veiw and the acoustics of the roof pretty good. So on that note value 4 money.
Orients ground is quite unique in that they have built executive apartment blocks in each corner of the ground. The best ones have a balcony litterally above the Corner flags!! Cool!! One such flat was occupied between us and the home fans and we could see thier tv from our seats!! The men were watching our game from the balcony

Gills new celebration, the all get in a circle a jig about!! and the girlfriends watchin the Man utd Champs league game on tv. So i got 2 games for the price of one!!
Ok, i'm not saying much on the actual game but here goes. First 70 mins we play them off the park. Goals from Bentley and Big dave gave us a 2 nil lead at half time. Jarvis had set up one goal, been a constent menace to their defence and then bamboozeled one defender before smashing in our third!! Great. Atmoshere was crackin!!
Then we switch off they get a penalty. M lockwood takes and we thinks its a consolation goal. Then they get a corner, everyone asleep and M L gets the ball short, no one closes down and he shoots he scores. 3 mins later he is Shola Ameobie style Offside and scores at near post. 3-3 from 3-nil up.
One thing in life is always certain. If you think something is impossible, the Gills can do it. Fortunatly it does work both ways and i'm sure we will win a game that we look destined to lose, just not yet.
So the long running tradition of Gills only playing for 75mins continues.
I came

Willis's seat for the evening! away thinking, thank god we did't loose. I overheard some Orient Fan explaining to his 8 year old son, "that 's why u never leave early!!" Especially when playing Gills i thought to myself.
A Random Man Moment did happen during the first half though. It became apparent that i was sitting behind Mrs Ndumbu-Nsungu (Big Dave). She was very freindly and even tried to join in with some songs!!
El Tonto will be pleased to know no pictures or autographs were taken!!
All things said and done, i was pleased we went as it was better than stayin in. I have now ticked off another ground from the to visit list, and at least we are scoring goals. Defence needs work but then it always does.
Cheltnham at home on saturday, i'm looking forward to it. 2 reasons mainly. It gets me out of jobs at home and i have a new gadget/phone to take my pics with!! apparently its good for watchin the Tennis!! Know the one i mean??
I wonder if our left back will score this week? wouldn't that be strange!!
Up the Gills
