Hi everyone! Seeing as I didn't want you all snooping around on my facebook and there's a very annoying time difference between London and Melbourne that makes Skyping almost impossible I thought I'd create a blog and let you all be updated on how everything is going and what I'm up to here in Londontown. I've just hit 5 weeks here and time has gone incredibly quickly! I'm still staying with the boys I met in Asia and have been spoilt rotten by them. I've only just had to start sleeping on the couch as they've been kind enough to share beds so that I had my own for over a month. They cook me dinner a lot and make me cups of teas. I just have to put up with all the farting! There's also ... read more

So, it has been awhile since I wrote so let me give you all a quick update. I’m in London. I had a quick evacuation of Swaziland after I found out 8 days in advance that I wouldn’t be extended, and 3 days in advance, that I couldn’t change my ticket. My last few days were filled with tearful goodbyes of co- workers (especially my intern Ace who I want to bring back to Canada) and good friends. Michelle (my life partner) and Christy had me crying quite hard, but I know I will see them again. Strangely enough, marina was on my flights from Swaz to London (Bart’s surprise valentines gift), which made my 31 hour trip home less shitty. When I got back it was minus 20 at the airport and my sister didn’t ... read more

After the hectic happenings of the past month or so, things quietened down a little bit as the world settled in to watch the greatest month of sport that comes around once every 4 years, the Football World Cup. This time it held special interest as for the first time since 1982, the mighty All Whites of New Zealand had qualified. Of course, it was even more amazing as I watched England come alive with hope that they would be bringing the World Cup back to England for the first time since 1966. But that dream ended a couple of weeks early. With some luck (some might view it good, some might view it bad), my contract ended right around the start of the World Cup, so rather than be sneaking off to the pub for ... read more

Hi All! Well after the spectacular failure of our first attempt at blogging (I think it lasted for perhaps one month in 2007!?), we are venturing to give it another go. That’s right: we’re bringing back the blog. Expect (a little!) less rambling and more focus on just letting you know where we are/have been, and broadly what we’ve been up to and how we’ve felt about it... ... read more

So here I am staying with my cousin and his girlfriend in London. Can't believe the diversity of people here! As Charlotte puts it "downtown Brixton....Otherwise know as downtown Nigeria". Went to the market today, huge open air affair with tons of vendors from different nationalities. Wow, I really hate writing these things down. How do people get in the habit of blogging it is sooo tedious. Anyhow the diversity of brixton is enough to almost make me want to live there. Yet everything closes at 11pm! One thing I did notice was the cleanliness of the London subway. No homeless people, less noise, much less assaulting on the senses than New York. ... read more
