Travel to Gloucester

As usual, we decided to have our summer holiday at mid September – 18^th to 23 September. Mark realised that we hadn’t been to the Cotswolds for a long time. In the end, we decided to visit Gloucester. He booked the hotel and the train to Gloucester through the Internet – we caught the train from Paddington on 18^th September. The journey was quite smooth; we reached Gloucester earlier than scheduled.

After arriving at Gloucester, we walked to Gloucester Central Hotel – it was conveniently located aright the town centre and bus terminal and train station. It is a quite big hotel for a lot of travellers, but the hotel did not provide breakfast; we had to pop out to the café to have breakfast near the hotel.

After having a short break, we walked to the cathedral via King’s Walk. We entered and looked round the cathedral and saw a number of monuments and tombs of historical people and beautiful stained glasses. I found some lovely gifts at the gift shop and bought Christmas presents for my husband for my mother-in-law.

It was a sunny, pleasant afternoon. I took photos of beautiful facades and cloister and historic monuments around the cathedral.



Having recently bought his new smart phone, Mark was getting used to use his smart phone and had been able to find and navigate us to places where we wanted to go. I suggested we would go to the Turkish Restaurant; he found the one in the Docks. We walked through the residential areas and took me to the Docks. Like London’s Dockland’s area, a number of brick buildings have been converted into shops, restaurants and museums and residential houses. He took me to the Turkish restaurant next to ‘Wagamama’ – Japanese noodle restaurant. We enjoyed eating meat dishes and desserts at the Turkish restaurant.
