And Their Off!
Only a few seconds in and people are already tumbling down the hill! Mix: one round of double Gloucester cheese
one extremely steep hill, preferably muddy
one group of kamikaze people
Release round of cheese at top of hill, wait one metric second before adding kamikaze people, cheese should reach 70mph.
And there you have a recipe for disaster.. I mean, what could possible go wrong??
Haha everything!! Which is really funny when you’re standing on the sideline!
Also the number of ambulances at the bottom certainly proved his is not for the faint hearted!
It was a ‘welcome to the UK Dean, people are crazy over here’ as well as a good excuse for Helen, Grant, Michelle and I to get out of London.
We had enough trouble walking up Coopers Hill to watch from the sidelines - this hill is a lot steeper than it looks in any of the photos! - it was crazy to think people were actually running (or rolling / face planting) their way down it!
After watching numerous races down the slippery hill we, along with our muddy shoes, headed to the pub for lunch and figured... ‘we’re not that far away from Wales… lets head to Cardiff!’ wahoo!
Welsh Dragon
Hannah, Helen, Michelle This is the first time I’ve can actually claim to have been in Wales, and we headed straight to Cardiff Castle, and had a look around the ruins of the old castle. Then wandered down to the waterfront where we stumbled across a little beer festival with an oompa band, food stalls, and face painting - you know Michelle and I couldn’t help ourselves!
And there we soaked in as much of the atmosphere as possible until it was time to head back to London - not a bad day indeed! 😊
