Bargains all round today ...my Daddy would be very proud of us! First, we got cheap tickets for our train rides to London ...we think we looked so young that we must have got student rates!! Getting good at this ticket in the machine to open gates business now! Luton to Blackfriars on the overhead train. Hopped off (yes, we are youthful students you know) and walked along the Embankment to Westminster Bridge right next to Big Ben. Many photo stops along the way. Our second bargain was a saving on tickets for the London Eye as Sue prepaid on the internet (students have to watch their budgets you know!). No queues, a bit of a frisk of the handbags etc. and we were up up and away on our "flight" on the London Eye. It ... read more

Oh how I love computers and new keyboards!! Friday 9th May I was allowed out on my very own as Maia and David were both at work! First I went to work with Maia to see what goes on at the Bobath Centre and meet the staff there. A very interesting place and a lovely group of people. Spent some time with Rosie who does a similar job to the one I had when I started at Child Health Centre. Ran (yes, I ran, can you believe it!) to the station to catch the train to Edinburgh. A great service with tea/coffee etc offered on the train. Got my bearings wrong as I came out of the station and clocked up quite a few extra steps heading in the wrong direction! Eventually found the entrance to ... read more

Hey all Just experimenting with this site as a way of keeping people up to date with our travelling antics. I've put our planned route in below but its doesn't look very clear so I have also put it in the email I sent letting you know about this blog. We don't intend to stick fully with the below plan. Its just good to have an idea of roughly what route we are taking and how long it takes to get between places so we could get the Round the World flights (RTW) sorted. The dates of the flights which are more fixed are also below. Round the World Flights 01/11/2006 - RTW FLIGHT LONDON TO BANGKOK 04/03/2007 - RTW FLIGHT SINGAPORE TO PERTH 12/03/2007 - RTW FLIGHT PERTH TO MELBOURNE 29/04/2007 - RTW FLIGHT MELBOURNE ... read more

Thom - So its nearly holiday time. Only three days to go at work for me and five for Kayles. Then six weeks of pure unadulterated laziness. This is why we joined the education profession - not for the joy of helping the next generation to learn but for the holidays. We have booked all the camp sites and bought all the equipment. Our itinery sees us go to Barnsley to stay with one of my friends a week on Sunday. Our journey to the north will first see us take in a football game between the mighty Sky Blues and Notts County. We will then move on to York for two nights, then Durham for a night. We will then hopefully stay with some of Kayleigh's family for a night in Geordie land before getting ... read more

What is it about me that unmistakably give people the impression that I’m a bearer of all information that is needed in order to satisfy their needs? Ok, I admit, I don’t mind this epithet. In fact, I seek it and honor it. But, what make complete strangers single me out of a crowd and request me for information? A mystery. Getting off the bus in central Luton on a Thursday evening. Have never been to the city. Don’t know a soul there. Don’t have a map. All I know about the city is an address to a Bed and Breakfast. The streets are pretty empty. I chose a direction, and start walking on random. After having spent less than five minutes in this for me completely unknown city, a man walks up to me and ... read more
