Lake Geneva from the campsite
Lake and alps in the background make a breathtaking view Day whatever, and its time to change countries and head into Switzerland.
Apparently, (we found out after we left Switzerland) we were supposed to stop at the border and buy a pass to use the Motorways, or face a massive fine (were talking about 2,500 euros or about $4,000) but of course no one bothered to tell us that and there were certainly no signs telling you. Even the nice police at the border didn’t pick up that we didn’t have the pass on our car. Anyway, nothing happened, so we got the cheapest drive through Switzerland of any tourists this year. Its one of those things that apparently you just know about, well, these two Aussies didn’t know and did in fact confirm it was required when they bothered to read the section on driving in the Lonely Planet book (who really reads a section on how to drive in a country, its not that hard).
Anyway, we ended the day in Lausanne on Lake Geneva, home of the International Olympic Committee and one of the most spectacular views of any city. The lake is beautiful with the Alps forming a sensational backdrop against the water. I can

Camping on the lake with a refreshing swim in the morning. see why the IOC makes this its home, as they have always liked the finer things in life.
Visited the excellent Olympic museum, although didn’t see any of our Macca’s Sydney Olympics crew in the photos, but did see evidence of Coke and McD. sponsorship.
