We have had so much snow this winter, it does feel like the ski season has gone on forever. We made the most of our local ski field, La Faucille in the Jura and the French alps close by, our favourite this season seems to be Les Houches near Chamonix on the French side. Unfortunately for me, I suffered yet another ski injury, my hamstring this time. So I'm now back on my snowboard again, which hurts less but seems to actually require more fitness and strength which I currently lack. The girls are all doing amazingly. Charlotte went on some black runs. Hayley is now close to perfecting her parallel turns and is keen to attempt a black run (hopefully when I'm not around, ekk!). Emma just needed someone to be watching, so we started making a 'learn to ski' video with her as the star. She is managing blue runs now and starting to actually have more control, phew! The girls have been loving ice skating this season and Murray started playing ice hockey with a social team. Watching the Winter Olympics seemed to inspire all family members to take our winter sports more seriously.
My sister managed
a few ski weekends and Murray's cousin, Pip, made it over from the UK to ski also. We had the Davidsons all the way from NZ for a brief ski weekend, lovely to see the kids growing up and to share a little part of our world.
Murray has been to Bangladesh to help with the refugees moving across from Myanmar. He has a few Europe based trips coming up but seems to be travelling less.
The girls have had a nice term at school, Charlotte is now entering her last term of primary school and will enter secondary school here somewhere, when we can figure out where to send her. Hayley performed in her Year 3/4 production as tinkerbell. It was amazing to watch our shy, little girl confidently deliver her lines. Emma has enjoyed ballet and swimming lessons and is finally old enough to join the netball club the girls go to, where I coach.
We seem to be managing me working more, although the house is a little more disorganised and not so clean. I did more coaching for netball, played a few games for my own team, and finally finished my Swiss Netball
Umpiring C award, phew!
We are excitedly off to Kenya for a wedding over Easter, then back to Switzerland for Term 3.
