Ok so today was free day. Me, Kat, and Chris decided to walk around Engelberg and explore the town! It was really cool. Just following the river around the town for a few hours. I discovered a part of Engelberg that we hadn't really explored as a group, and also discovered that there are trailer parks in Switzerland too!!!! We then stopped for lunch at a place we didn't know and where almost no English was spoken by employees! She handed us 3 menus, and pointed at one and said "special!" I knew through local language, french in high school and just being in kitchens that it was some kind of chicken with french fries. I ordered what basically translated into Vienna pork! Well first comes salad, it was the burl leaf lettuce with cream dressing like we had up in that mountain restaurant. Delicious! Then out comes our meals. First thing we is a little basket shaped like an old pioneer wagon. Something a kids meal would come in, in the U.S. inside is Fried chicken wings and french fries. Then my meal comes out next, and though it was great, it was just breaded pork chops, and buttered vegetables. So here we are wanting to try new things and local foods by just picking things off of a menu we can only understand about half of and we get pork chops and chicken wings! Oh well, it makes for a great story. I seem to have a few of those! The rest of the day we just wandered, did some souvenir shopping, then had a great dinner at a little local foods restaurant. Not a bad way to have a last day in Switzerland!!!!
