I am back home for three days now and I can definitely say that I am having the blues....so I am already planning my next trips. Anyway, here my worst/best list of my travels through Nepal/India: Best: - Chitwan National Park - Andaman Islands - Camel ride & night in the desert - Mango Juice @ Nandinis, Havelock - Never stepped into a cow pad ;-) Worst: - Indian Toilet at bus stops at night - Hotel rooms in Mumbai - Arrival in Agra (it was not nice what the Indians did beside the train tracks when we were approaching Agra) - Arrival in Varanasi (the guy who spat and the guy who grabed) - Hairy ears of some Indian fellows (oh, you just can't imagine how hairy ears can be...) This is it - tomorrow ... read more

I've managed to fit a bit of snowboarding around a lot of working since I've been back. at the moment I'm sitting on a train to Zurich, full from dinner, and feeling pretty well worn after joining a few other ex-T&Ters for a weekend on the slopes of Lenzerheide. It's pretty good, but I'm still without a solid source of funding for work, so despite the full stomach and tired legs I'm still a bit stressed. You can only do so much though. Of the 6 weeks i've been back I've spent 2.5weekends working (a conference, and a huge EU proposal), and 3.5 weekends at least partly on the slopes. Flimserberg, Brigels, Andermatt, Lenzerheide, I'm yet to go back to the same field.. or with the same people come to think of it - hopefully not ... read more

I woke up yesterday morning ready to continue my travels through Switzerland when i read my emails. One of my sorority sisters was brutally murdered over night. It still doesnt seem real. She was 18... just a freshman, found shot in the street just off campus. I firmly believe that unless you are greek or go to a school like Auburn, you are likely to shurg and write this off as another case of bad things happening to good people. If you are greek and go to a school like Auburn then you can understand what a devastating thing this is for me and for my school. Auburn is with out a doubt the safest place I have ever lived. Things like this dont just happen there. I know that bad things can happen anywhere, but ... read more

So a travel blog.... Its weird sitting here writing and not quite knowing how this whole travel blog is gonna work out. I figure its the best way to record my adventures for myself, but also for those of you back at home. Hope I manage to keep you entertained and informed, with a few laughs along the way. So we shall see... Where to start?? After a month of enjoying the sun and living at home in Paekakariki the 25th of feb jumped at me very quickly and all too soon were we all at the airport. Its a weird feeling leaving home and going off into the unknown, kinda sad to leave my family and all that is familiar, but also exciting to take that first step out into an adventurous world. I guess ... read more

Yes, yes, Zurich is wonderful and all, but the Patriots just lost the Superbowl!!!! How great is that?! My beloved Dolphins' 1972 perfect season has been preserved. We watched the game in french here at the hotel. The guys who were doing the commentary were in this studio with dozens of American flags and seemed pretty pumped about the game. The funny thing is I only caught the 4th quarter, and I only caught that because I read my clock wrong. I woke up and got a shower thinking it was 6:30 am, while it was only 3:30 am. I really didn't want to watch the game because I didn't want to see New England go 19-0. When Julie checked the score online, the Giants had just gone ahead 10-7, so I decided I'd give in ... read more
