Military Service
I had no idea you had to do military service over there... speaking to friends in Turkey and Greece who did military service, they had mixed feelings about doing it. Sounds like you had a nice and relaxing start to your trip :)

Military Service
It's no longer compulsory but it used to be, we switched to a "professional" army a few years ago. Our army used to be fairly large but it has been completely dismantled over the years, but they are talking about rebuilding it with the increase in armaments in Russia. Honestly it's impossible for us to do it now though, our economy is far to weak now to even keep our infrastructure and health care systems running, we have no possibility of rebuilding our army under these circumstances.

We've dubbed it "The Ugliest Royal Palace in the World"
We have been known to call the Royal Palace in Stockholm "The Ugliest Royal Palace in the World". Is that why they have decided to cover parts of it with tarpaulin? So we don't have to see it?... /Åke

Local Travels
Great to hear of a fellow travel blogger also doing local travels. You can learn so much by being a traveller in your own country :) Stockholm looks very grand and regal. I look forward to reading about your trip to Dubai.
