Bay at Cee Day 41 – October 3, 2016 - Cee, Spain to Finisterre, Spain – 10 Miles
(Due to the poor internet connections yesterday, I am just now posting my last and final post for my El Camino walk.)
What a beautiful day for walking – no fog or rain just beautiful sunshine!!! This is my last and final day of walking the Portugues El Camino that started in Lisbon, Portugal on August 24th and ended today, October 3rd at the lighthouse at Cap Fisterra which was once thought to be the westernmost point of Europe. I definitely have seen a lot of the countryside of Portugal and Spain and have been very fortunate to have had really amazing weather even though there were some days of very hot, hot temps!
Today started with us making our way back to the sea front where we soon passed by some sculptures in a park before reaching a side road that took us up a very steep street above the town of Corcubion. As we walked on the street, we passed by a church before we came to a very narrow path with rock walls on both sides.

Sculptures at park day we walked either on a nice path or alongside a busy highway. As we were walking alongside the highway into this small village, we passed by this very green house that definitely caught our eye. We made a stop at a restaurant in this little town where we enjoyed some good coffee along with probably the worst Santiago cake we have had on the trail. We then had out picture taken with the ocean in the background.
After leaving the restaurant we then were blessed with another steep hill to climb that finally leveled out and eventually brought us to a spot where we got our first view of Finisterre and the lighthouse. As you can see from the photo, we definitely were excited but also sad to see Finisterre knowing that is where our walking the Portugues El Camino would officially end.
As we continued on the path, we soon encountered a steep rocky downhill that took us across the highway and onto a path that eventually brought us to a boardwalk around the bay into the city of Finisterre. Upon reaching Finisterre, we checked into our hotel and then stopped for some lunch. After lunch

View of windmills as the sun comes up we went and got our certificate for walking from Santiago to Finisterre and then proceeded to walk the final 2.25 kilometers to the lighthouse.
As I am walking alongside the road to the lighthouse, once again the white butterflies appeared and stayed with me as I walked to the lighthouse the final ending point for the El Camino.
We celebrated the completion of our walk with a sunset cruise on the Maria Elena which included a couple glasses of vino Blanco (white wine) and some tapas. What a great way to end the walk!
As I said earlier, this is my last post for my Portuguese El Camino. I want to thank everyone for reading my posts, your comments and support. It has been another fun and amazing adventure that I will cherish forever.
A big “Thank You” to Harlan and Karen Sager for agreeing to do this walk with me and to my husband for his support! We will enjoy two more days in Santiago before heading home on October 6th.
