Barcelona was an eventful trip. After being told by Max, the Restaurateur in the village, to not have Jewellery showing, we were fore warned. We rose at 6 a.m. to be on the train at 8.30 a.m. After having to travel by car for over half an hour. Near the centre of Barcelona the train goes underground. No escalators there. We had to climb the stairs and come out of the belly of the city and stood on a busy avenue, amongst people-buses-cars-scooters, you name it. After travelling for a few hours, you know a nature call is imminent. The best place for this is having a coffee. Very good for me and I am very happy when Liz has to go. The coffee was nice but we had a long day waiting and not without incidents. Standing at the top of the stairs, Liz saw an older Lady struggling with a heavy suitcase. She also saw two neatly dressed lads eyeing her up. A man coming up shook his finger at the lads as he went on his way. Than Liz saw that one of the lads grabbed the suitcase. Liz screamed, No No. At the bottom of the stairs stood a security guard, so they dropped it and run. A third one, a lookout, spit Liz in her face, as they run passed. Not a nice start of the day, but a good warning. And we saved the Lade the loss of her suitcase, which was a good feeling. Later in the day we saw a second one, this time we were in one of the open tour buses showing the beautiful city of Barcelona. The Police was there quickly. The open tour buses are divided into two lines. The west side and the east side of the city, and you can use the two lines on the one ticket You can use it the whole day and go on and of as much as you like. Only one problem, you have to know before hand what they show you, we took the wrong side first and had to wait to come back to pick up the second one till after lunch. In the morning we saw a lot of Barcelona and it is a beautiful city without doubt. We had lunch on a very busyboulevard on a bench, shared with other people, eating our rolls while watching one of Gaudi's creations. When moving on to find the second line that would take us to the Sagarda Familia,Liz had again a nature call. My visions of a nice coffee disappeared when Liz entered a busy department store, that would have the nescesary equipment. It had, second floor, where I stood for a long time, between female underwear and dresses waiting the return of Liz. A lot of people had the same idea as Liz so it took a bit of time. Now we took the green line and made our way to see the amazing Sagarda Famiia. Here again Antony Gaudi was the master builder. He gave his live on this gigantic church, that up to date is not finished yet. Antony Gaudi lost his life in1926 after been run over by a tram. You are absolutely speechless when approaching this amazing church. We walked around it and had to stand in a row to buy a ticket to see the inside. We were told that this entrée money is used to finish the project. Several Architects are now working together to bring this project to an end. The inside is even more amazing. It is like a forest like Gaudi wanted, of pillars that surrounds you with the outside light falling on the Altar. There are not enough words to describe this wonderful piece. We can only hope that one day they do can finish this, because they have been working on it for over a hundred years. We, after asking here and there, found our way back to the train and with that, our car that was waiting in Flacal. Just the drive home was easy, We stayed home and had an small meal before we finished the day with a nice glass of wine. Bye for now Liz & Allan
