After an 11 hour flight from Bangkok and a 13 hour lay over in Heathrow airport (which i must say is the worst airport for layovers of that magnitude!.. no bench seats that i could find apart from gate 1 terminal 2, and no showers to be heard of!!! ) I landed in Valencia with my one lucky US dollar .... and it paid off today!.. after realising that no other country other than Thailand likes or exchanges Thai Baht and the ATMS not working in the airport.... and looking stupid to the lady behind the currency exchange counter when i asked if she could change 1 US dollar, she was nice enough to do.. for 1 Euro.. just enough for me to get out of the airport and into town by bus! phheeeww! Getting clocked in the side of the head hurts, but throwing it back makes it better, which when you think about it, is the spirit of La Tomatina. A series of 5 trucks came rolling down the street (within 1 hour). The ruthless men in the trucks chucked tomatos and tomato slime at our ... read more
