This blog is very short on words. The photos say it all really! You'll notice they haven't been labelled. That's just plain laziness!!! On Saturday morning we met up with a group of friends and drove up to the beautiful little town of Ochagavia in the Pyrenees. We were very lucky with the weather as it wasn't so good in Pamplona. Fortunately the plan changed from Sunday to Saturday as the forecast predicted a terrible end to the weekend and it wasn't far wrong. Walking in the mountains can be difficult but, much to our delight, this turned out to be an hour or so strolling along a country road with breathtaking colourful views everywhere. Left Islares and zoomed along the autopista stopping only for the giant Carrefour supermarket just before Bilbao for essentials. Another scorching day as we climbed steeply to Pamplona where we got totally lost, Just couldn't find our way out in the direction required. Tempers frayed in the heat but eventually Jen spotted a sign for the airport which got us back on track. (Our map didn't have the new road which totally threw us). The landscape changes after Pamplona, the mountains are more rounded and lush and the valleys are cultivated. he road to our destination of Ochagavia was twisting but good. Ochagavia is situated in the Basque valley of Salazaar. Almost as soon as we arrived rockets exploded loudly over the neighbouring village.
