What a pleasant little city. Once again, we figured we could do this one on our own. Once again that's what we did. This time we were not disappointed.

Being able to depart the ship on our own allowed us to have a little more leisurely or more active morning. This day we did not arrive in port until later. This gave Linda G and I a chance to do our morning stretch with James at 7:00 a.m. and then do a Spinning class at 8. I love spin but it was Linda's first time. She said she enjoyed it and really worked up a sweat. Then we could have breakfast before getting ready to go ashore.

Tom, Linda G, Pam, Deanie & I met on the dock and walked across the bridge to start climbing the stairs and walkways that make up this city. It is built on the slopes of Monte del Castro and rises tier by tier from the avenue of trees to a citadel or crowning height. There are narrow streets and granite houses with an old fishing quarter known as Ribera del Berbes. This is presently the most important port in Spain for the

curing and preserving of fish.

We enjoyed walking leisurely through the narrow streets and climbing the steep stairs to the next level. There was wonderfu architecture, interesting shops, friendly people with friendly dogs and wonderfully, refreshing beer in La Central. We had decided not to eat in town since all the food on the ship has already been paid for so we went back there for a late lunch.

On the way back to the ship, we stopped at the new Shopping Mall. It was not completely occupied since it had only opened recently. There were great shops in it but we found a little kiosk that was especially cute. They mostly sold kitchen and specialty food items. We each bought something but not all of us got it back to the state. I left two bottles of locally prepared olive oil under the bed in my stateroom. Hope the room boy enjoyed it or was able to give it as a gift like I was going to do.

Dinner was once again in the Botticelli Dining Room after cocktails on Tom and Linda's Balcony. Oh, what a wonderful life. Too bad it will be coming to
