We've been in Madrid for a few days now but I don't really feel like we've seen as much as we should have by now.

We went to the Prado on Friday. It was cool. They have a special display of Picasso right now. We thought they had some Rembrandts but turns out they just gave us old maps. Spain was playing a World Cup game and at the Plaza de Cristobal Colon there were 2 giant screens set up to watch the games. It was a bunch of Spanish teenagers drinking and yelling but it was pretty cool to be in the crowd when Spain won. They love their futbol here. We were so hot and sweaty after that.

Saturday we went to the Gran Via. Mostly we just walked around for a while. Walked to the Thyssen Museum. On the way they had giant metal scupltures that said LOVE, ART, and AMOR so we did stupid tourist pictures with them. I love it. Then we found a small play ground and played on the swing. Finally we made it to the Thyssen. I liked it even better than the Prado. They had Renoir, Monet, Manet, Degas, Picasso

and the list goes on. My favorite was Bougival by Renoir. We didn't have enough time to see everything before it closed.

Once we left we saw some kind of protest or march or whatever. Tommy decided to join. We were crying we were laughing so hard. Later, there was a huge group of us on the metro and a couple of guys in our group started singing to some Norweigan girls. I think they were scared. Poor girls.

Last night we went to Gula Gula. It was dinner and a drag show. Pretty funny. Men dressed up as women trying to sing songs in English which they don't know. Thats what I call entertainment.

Today, Tommy and I went to the Reina Sofia museum. Jennifer hasn't been feeling well so she stayed in. A lot of Picasso. We saw Guernica, which is a really famous piece he did about the Spanish Civil War. El enigma sin fin by Dali was probably the most interesting piece we saw. Next we went to this park. We went to the Estanque Grande where we rowed boats! Tommy shared his mad crew skills with me. I'm a pro now. Okay,

Playing around on the way to the Thyssen Museum
not really but I try. :-)

We walked by the Palacio de Velazquez and then to the Palacio de Cristal. Its so cool. Its a giant glass building. We couldn't go in because it was closed. We stood outside and you could see the sunlight coming through.

This is the view from the middle of the "lake" [read - giant dirty swimming pool :-)]. It was fun. TWang is a good crew teacher.
