NARRATIVE: Jan. 20, 2015 1:35pm Madrid Spain! Wow it is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen! When we got there the place was astonishing. There was so much to look at. The cultural landscape was different each block we passed by. The architecture, the detail put in every stone, the colorful buildings, the gorgeous water fountains and balconies. We were amused by it all. We figured that we should get a taxi to take us because if not we wouldn’t have looked at everything there was to see. We would tell the taxi driver to stop, help us take a picture, but it was Pamplona in which we were attracted to. People were along going towards the right on one street, laughing and dressed in red and white- we thought it was a parade! So we got out it seemed like it was the place to stay that we then out of nowhere we heard shouting and the ground starts to shake a little, we thought "earthquake"? But no, coming from around the corner were hundreds of men in the same colors white and red running for their lives with a of couple bulls running behind
them. Startled we got up and ran. Then men caught up to us quick, they seemed as though they knew which way to go, they had their own little mental map of the place and we were dumbfounded. While running away from the stampede of men and bulls Annette saw a poster on a store about the festival of running with the bulls! Of course she thought the festival of San Fermin, she laughed and the boys looked at her as if she was crazy. San Fermin, a festival with bulls chasing you, it was their cultural trait in which they would do it once a year. She start looking for some place we could turn away from this scene but the only way was up. Many men would climb up stairs or windows of apartments. But then Kevin pointed at a banner right in front a couple of blocks- the finish line! We kept running ran into the bull stadium climbed up the railings, down the stairs and found an exit out of the stadium, still running. It was incredible, we were laughing once out of danger and shaking from fear at the same time. We called a taxi and returned to Madrid a more normal and civilized place.
