<strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Travel Day: Day One of our 7-day Western Mediterranean Cruise aboard the Norwegian Epic

Saturday, September 22, 2012

I didn’t really think I would have too much to write about considering this was our travel day. Who knew?

We picked up Eric, Shawn, and Katy at 10:00 A.M. Our flight out of Indy to JFK was scheduled for a 12:50 departure. We left a half hour late, which was nothing compared to what would come.

The JFK flight to Barcelona boarded on time for its 5:35 P.M. departure. As soon as we were seated, it was announced we would have an hour delay due to high winds. 1 ½ hours later we were told we were waiting for a maintenance worker to arrive and sign off on the log. That is, as soon as one was found….they were short staffed. (Oh, by the way, we were flying American Airlines). Three hours into the delay we finally backed away from the gate! It took us another hour to taxi to the runway. An on time boarding mushroomed into a 4 hour ordeal. We still had a 7 ½ hour overnight flight ahead of us. Thank you American Airlines. Never again!
