Day 3-4, Barcelona.
WOW, what a jam packed couple of days. It has been non stop in one beautiful city. We started out Yesterday on a waking tour of Parc Guell. A park designed by Gaudi. That dude had one wild imagination. We walked all over the park and I think we all could have stayed a bit longer. We then went to the center piece of Barcelona, the suguarda Famillia (spelling, its after midnight and I don't want to look it up) Anyway the church is wild and it is not even going to be finished for another 20 years of so. After that we went up to the Olympic park. the adults all thought that was cool and couldn't figure out why the kids were not all that into it until we remembered that they were either not born or barely born in 92 when the olympics were here. Anyway, ,we then made our way to Las Rambles for lunch. After lunch Thomas, our guide, took us on a walking tour of the old gothic portion of town. the city is a maze of small alleys and passage ways. it is very easy to get totally turned around. We

Lauren, Kayla, Heahter then split up into a couple of groups and most of us went to the cathedral and explored the rest of the downtown area. For Dinner Thomas had arranged a nice traditional Spanish meal which most of us went to, while the others found dinner at the big market on Law Rambles.
Today the day started with a tour of MountSerrat. A monastery high up on the hills outside of Barcelona. It was an amazing drive just to get up to the monastery. Once there we toured the basilica, climbed the mountain, touched the Madonna statue for good luck and listened to a boys choir. It was all rather amazing. Unfortunately it was a bit cloudy and rainy on the mountain so our view was not great, but the weather made for a very spooky feeling on the mountain. some said it felt a bit like a place Harry Potter would hang out at. We went back to barcelona for lunch then again split into a few groups. My group went to the Picasso museum while others went to the beach or went shopping. Along the way we stopped for Gelato a time or two and even found the
Spanish treat churros and hot chocolate, which was liked dipping a skinny scone into melted chocolate. a great invention. We went back to the hotel for dinner, then hopped the Metro out to the a bit fountain that they play music for and fountain puts on quite a show of water and light. We made it back to our hotel at about 11:00 and we are gearing up for our drive to France.
Thanks for reading and I will pass your comments on to your kids and relatives. We are having a blast and can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. I will put a few photos on tonight and try and get more on next time
