Question: Do people who are in a relationship with someone of the same sex have equality in Barcelona, Spain? If yes, what laws promote equality here?

Before, Spain citizens could only marry someone of the same sex if their partner was from somewhere where same sex marriage was permitted. Over time, that law has changed. There are two laws about marriage in Barcelona. The first is that a Spain citizen may marry whoever they want regardless of where their homeland is or gender. The second law is that two non-Spain citizens may marry if they have a legal residence in Spain.

The laws of marriage in Spain are very firm. Everyone is expected to follow them. Either way, with both laws, couples of the same sex have the same rules and expectations to follow. Therefore, same sex couples do have equality in Barcelona, Spain. They are treated no different than couples of the opposite sex.
