Wow! I had such a great weekend spent in Barcelona!
I left on Thursday at 9am and took a bus to the Madrid airport. I then took a plane to Barcelona. I was greeted my Quetita, Luis's grandmother, who are family friends on my mother's side. She was so sweet (despite the trouble we had finding each other!)
That night, Luis took me to see a talent show some of his friends were in. Since the language is Catalan, I did not understand very much of the performances but I enjoyed the music and it was fun! After the show Luis, his friends and I went to bar and got burgers with egg on them! The place we went is a favorite of theirs so I was so glad I was able to try it!
The next day, Friday, I spent the day exploring downtown Barcelona! It is the most beautiful city! I saw Antoni Gaudi's
La Pedrera and took a tour inside and on the roof, which is incredible! I also saw
Casa Battilo but Gaudi. The architecture is just amazing! Luis met me for lunch and I dined on a delicious gnocci with pumpkin sauce! For
the desert I had a savory chocolate cake with fried bananas a la mode. I couldn't finish it since I was so full!
I spent the rest of the day walking and shopping--there were many great sales!
The next day Luis took me all over Barcelona and Catalonya on his red motorbike! It was so much fun! It was was first time on a motorbike! It is incredible experiencing sounds and smells right in front of you! We rode around at night and I got one of the collest experiences! Driving in narrow roads, dodging people! All while seeing beautiful architecture all around and a lively city! Now I kind of want one...
At night we went to a party with a couple of his friends. The music was loud and there was even a jumpy. It was the latest I have ever gotton home--around 4:30 am yikes! Needless to say I woke up around 2pm the next day.
Sunday was my last day. Luis dropped me off at El Castillo Montjuic, which is an amazing castle with an incredible view of the water and of the city. I then took a bus to the Plaza
and then took the underground train to Barcelona. I walked around, got a cup of fresh fruit and had a delicious three course meal of spaghetti, chicken and potatos, and Catalonya Custard! For only 15 euros!
After lunch Luis drive me to the airport and we said goodbye. It was so sad since I loved meeting everyone I met and I feel in love with the city!
A huge thanks to Luis and his family for letting me stay with them and to Luis for showing me around and letting me on his motorbike! I will be back!
Since I got back on Sunday night I have been back in School mode. Yesterday we had a lecture on Spanish History and I learned so much!
I have to go to SPanish class, I have a quiz, and then later we are having a Salsa dancing class!
I am going to wear a beautiful red skirt that is perfect!
Until next time! Stay tuned for me!
