The bartender Halloween in Spain is not at all like it is in the states. It's not celebrated nationally and many people from Spain tend to look down on it. Maybe we got lucky then, being where we are, because there were actually Halloween celebrations in Salamanca. As much as I would love to think that there was any meaning to it, I realized early on in the night that Halloween is another way for bars to make money here. I couldn't tell you whether or not that's entirely different from America. When there's something to celebrate about, there's money to be made!
There were no children trick-or-treating in the streets. However, there were some older kids (by this I mean tall enough to get into the bars) that were dressed up and some of the people from our group brought the tradition overseas with them. I did not. I was told that Spain did not celebrate Halloween and was under the impression that it would have been a waste to even think about it.
