Surf lessons...working out....coworking.....yoga....and lots of walking about sums up the week.
Sean and I have started to settle into our daily routines here. Sean gets up around 6 and heads to beach for his early morning workouts ( they have a great set of work out apparatus for pull ups , core and dips ) so we joke he is working on his Prison workout physique. He gets back just in time for Sarah and then eventually me waking up getting ready to start our day. He typically trades until 11:30 or so and then gets ready for the day- which as of now has been walks on the beach and working on the gym stuff in the afternoons.
Sarah gets up pretty early (not sure why) but I think typically she tries to play some games and have her breakfast before she starts her online schooling around 9. She tries to connect with friends back home before they leave for school (usually her lunch break) and we are trying to get her in a second routine of getting outside to get some fresh air before her afternoon studies.
She started her Surf lessons this week and went 2
x mastering the waves within an hour. She met one other kid that speaks English so she was happy about that. He told her about his Parkour lessons he does on Wednesday's so now that is on the agenda for next week. We are going to let her continue for another month of lessons as she really enjoys it and we are glad to have her doing something active.
I tend to get up last (not a surprise) but it is usually by 8 am. I like to get to the gym for 9 or 10 depending on the day. It takes me about 12 min to walk- and I have started to run/walk most days...now working up to a full run.
The gym is soooo hot, I am in full sweat just after stepping in the door. There are 3 coaches and 1 admin staff, who are all very nice and make me feel welcome. I am not use to being a student but I have to say I am enjoying having no worries (the only part is I don't like some of the programming so I tend to skip those days and do my own thing). I
am still nervous to do a partner workout as I don't know the language yet and most of the members speak Spanish. Soon enough. I am trying to do 4 days a week and then the other 2 days I am trying Yoga.
Yoga is on the pier looking over the Ocean. Surreal really! We have it just before sunset so that is an added bonus as well. The teacher is a Nomad from New York. She works here teaching English and started the lessons on the side. I am looking forward to being all bendy and such.
I typically walk for a bit on the beach (if not taking a swim) to cool off after CrossFit and then head back to the apartment to get started on my days work. With the time change I am actually working out before the 6 am class back home, so days I do the workout from Crux, I can give the members a target- usually an easy one to crush!!
I tend to work into the night as with the two time zones we are 6 hours ahead of Toronto, so Marianne and the gang are usually chatting etc with
me from 2-11 pm.
Next week Lindsay arrives Yeah. I am going to check out some Co Working spaces as it will be somewhat crowded in the apartment with 4 of us and our laptops at the one table. I also need some alone time as I am easily distracted so getting out will do me good and let me focus on some work.
Few things I am still getting use to:
• Naked women on the beach and Men in speedos
• The 7 min commercial breaks on TV Shows.
• The smoking...I still am in awe how many people smoke
• The beef- tastes too sweet for me...I am trying not to complain, but Sean's says I am not very good about it.
• how sore my feet are..I have never walked so much in my life....think I need some different shows- flip flops and Nike Metcons don't seem to cut it
Till next week
