I'm back on my travels (well sort of!!)...i was for 10 days anyway, just got back from Fuerteventura (well i hadnt had a holiday this year had i!!)..I managed to pack more for 10days than i had done for a whole year...but i think i ended up wearing everything i took so I'm learning (actually i didnt wear my white dress or my pink top...hmmm.oh well )
Anyway yep, so off we went to Fuerteventura, forth time now so I'm a pro and we could meet up with all our friends ... it didnt start off to well though as i was on a different flight to Dean (due to me supposed to be still in oz..it got booked separate!!) i ended up sat next to a lovey dovey couple...typical!! I'm sure they follow me.lol. Anyway i just drowned out the slurps with the headset for the whole flight. Four hours it took which to put to scale would have just got me from one end of oz to the other!! and on a map England to Fuerteventura is miles away!!
While io was on the plane i suddenly relised the people who were picking me up had just met
me once and i couldn't remember what they looked like...hmm...could be tricky meeting up with them...luckily when i came out the arrivals door there was a sign saying Amy (and underneath in brackets Dean) so i guessed that must be me Got there and then a few hours later i was joined by Dean...for a week and a bit of spas and scuba gear!!
We did the usual of sunbathing (and getting covered in sand!!) and having lovely meals but also it was my birthday and Deans mums birthday (she was staying down the road from us) so we had a couple of special days. First up was Deans mums birthday so we arranged a day at the spa for us all (partly a present for us too i think!!) we tried to throw her off the scent by giving her a snorkel on the morning but she saw straight through us!!...we all trudged off to the spa (after our breakfast of smoked salmon and champagne!!) and spent the day in different pools and having jets squirted out at us and there was a steam room and sauna and gorgeous sunbeds to lie on..jacuzzis...the whole lot so i thought i
was a bit short changed when for my birthday me and dean went scuba diving!!! (i have to admit i did want to go...but after a day in the spa... thinking about the day i would be having... in scuba gear in the freezing sea... it didnt appeal too much!!)
...It turned out well though, well sort of...heres how it went....we had our briefing and got fitted with all our gear (it seemed remarkably heavier than it should have been when i tried to get up...little did i know i was still attached to the bench!!) when i finally did get up i thought i had my backpack on again!! it was soo heavy and we had to walk across to the pool that was miles away!!! (which was part of a hotel..just imagine what we looked like...drudging over to the pool full scuba gear while everyones laid their sunbathing in their bikinis!!) The chaffing you get from your wet suit isn't too good either!!
Anyway in the pool we had to do some exercises..i was quite good at this due to my snorkeling experience at the reef (i cant help but name drop )...Dean kept floating up to the top so i was at there on the bottom of the pool in my full scuba gear just waiting and waving at the small children that were swimming past in their snorkels!! After a bit of floating around in their..we had a small wait which made me get a little nervous and then we piled into a speed boat and we were away in the sea !!
I think i would have been alright (like i had been in the pool!!) but firstly you had to roll off backwards from the boat!! well i was never very good at gymnastics...so i just landed in with a huge splash and got all disorientated before swimming over to the guide. We went down using the anchor rope and ended up at the bottom of the sea...some little fishes and things and i was alright for a bit...but then Deans ears wouldn't pop so he went up to the top again and then came back down..but in the meantime i was just sat there at the bottom of the sea (there was some others there too) and i was fine but then i think you just start thinking about things... like your breathing and stuff...but i saw Dean coming back down with the guide so it was fine...but then my mask filled up with water!!! so it was all cloudy i couldnt see...i tried to empty my mask (which I'd done fine in the pool!!) but it was just not happening down there...so after a bit of fiddling around and trying to breathe out of my nose to empty the water out...we decided we'd go up to the top...i dont think scuba diving is for us just yet!! It wasnt over though...we had to heave ourselves up onto the boat and over the side...i felt like a seal in my wet suit slippering over the side . After catching our breath back and after our heart rates returned to their normal speed!! we agreed that it was good but I'll stick to snorkeling for a bit longer i think .
So I'm back on English soil once again....but its sunny...so I cant complain ..so until my next adventures...bye for now x x x x
