Taking a stroll...Taking a stroll...Taking a stroll...

God, if all back-alleys were like this one at home!
Hola Chicos!

Who'd have thought that everyday life here would just be so er...much, or actually, that i would have got so lazy...sorry. I apologise lots for the extreme tardiness of these blogs, and the fact that reporting in retrospect is slightly frazzling my brain. Ermmmmmm...what's been happening? Well, nothing and everything i suppose, if that's not so trite as to have you reaching for the sick bags. We had our first 'flat birthday', anticipated by a 2-day cookathon, proving ourselves to be the hostesses with the mostestes (sp?), or at least the most homemade tortilla, for Anna's 23rd. And the end of the fiestas left us all playing the walking dead for about a week long. Becky put it best i think when she wrote, and i quote, " God Ali, you're like a toddler. "PARTYPARTYPARTY...*THUD*SNORE..." Yup, sad but true :-)

Had a not so small bout of homesickness last week, provoked by a few crisis' (crises?) both at home and in Naaaaaaarch, and so what with Katie's carcrash as well...you come to a realisation that yeah, its great to be gallavanting in foreign cities all you like, but when the people you love are going through crap

Sadly not for Anna, although she's worth it. Instead laid on by good ol' Zara to mark the end of the Fiestas del Pilar. Watched them with the french boys; 'C'est Magnifique!'
back home, it's there you need to be. However, with no small amount of phone credit, and armed with the knowledge that Michael will be here on Friday, and Clara next week, i have enough to jolly me back to my usual self again! And so thanks to all, especially Bex, Tasha and Karan for the msn marathons...you girls continue to be my idols and props & so lots of love from EspaƱa. My heart remains with ALL of you in England who are going through some real difficulties right now...i know you'll be able to come out smiling :-D

Oh, and speaking of Mike; I suppose it's about time i made an official announcement, as a pretty old email (sorry, another very delayed response) from Devine went, "On the subject of bfs and gfs, tell me the full story behind this 'Michael'. I want places, dates, deeds and future plans. Plzthnx." Okay Christoph, seeing as you asked so nicely...by the way, i'm loving the inverted commas. it's as if i've become a pseudo-lesbian or something, and this is either a pseudonym for 'michelle', or else he's in witness protection...anyway, i digress. Um, right. Michael's 24, hails from Dustable (YES he's English *shock horror P2) and a carpenter. Yup, pulled a trady, 1 point for me!!! I met him at a gay club when out with the gayboy crew (about time i got some return on that, lol) And he's just great (and STRAIGHT, before you all ask). I dont want to jinx anything because it's only been a couple of months, but he makes me laugh, holds hands in public, and brings marmite, cadburys AND satc dvds when he's over here. Gotta be a catch eh? And as for 'deeds' Chris, the word you repeated back to me on the phone the other night was enough!!! But, yup, despite your potty mouth... i'm gonna start feeling a bit sappy if i write more, so i'll shut up and instead leave you with the promise of a madrid write-up in the next week...seriously, it was a *coughcough* eyeopener in every sense. Continental boys are a law unto themselves I promise...especially when you're sharing with 5 of them!!!

And last but not least, for Anna and Lizzy - it was wonderful to have you here, even if two days seemed to fly in about two hours. The muffins and

Oooooooo Eeeeeeeeee. C'est genial, non?
mango chutney went down a hell of a lot better than my attempts to convert 3 out of 16 people to marmite, so thank you so much, and hopefully we'll get to catch a cuppa at Xmas (kettle boiled of course)!

Love always, Ali xxx

P.S. Sian (my spanish teacher to those of you not lucky enough to have her). Congratulations on the book deal!!! Promises are now made to get all atrociously drunk at your first book signing! Go for it Missy!!!

Have you ever tried beating eggs and sugar for a 3-tiered cream cake by hand? NO? Well it was worth the tennis elbow for Johanna's secret recipe. Delicious. And 'finnished' in no time *bu-dum Ba!* (followed by sharp poke to ribs)!!! Yup, i love a bad pun. Indulge me...

Our official mascot, idol, and confidante. The spanish love their nik naks and so we have an assortment of 'made in china' goodies all over the flat. Someone had actually knitted a little hat for him, with...wait for it, appliqued cherrys. so i honour of the right honourable Anna Roberts, I turned my milliner's talents his way to get him in the party spirit...this was the result. Check out the homemade pie as well people (obviously not made by me)!!!

We bought her a 'bull from a china shop'. Just the right mix of the beautiful and the absurd...perfect for the gal in question!

A club to make the Waterfront look poptastic...Anna's boyf 'Daggers' gets in the spirit...(ironically of course)!

Sweetie trust me, the regular NAARCH fire brigade is taking care of crises here. (i'm thinking of me here, rather thanthe actual fire brigade. that would be a bit disastrous..) We;re all OK, we promise. Missing Alissia Dee, but loving you and coping with the messes life throws at us. Love you very, very much my darling face-licking Ali.
