3 hours of sleep later I think I have partially recovered from last night! We went to Lanjaron for the Fiesta del Agua and afterwards went to Salobreña for a big bonfire and late night ocean swimming! We arrived in Lanjaron around 9/930 pm and there was a giant parade with probably 20 different floats of people with music and crazy costumes and facepaint etc etc. driving down the one “big” road in Lanjaron, this little mountain town about 30 minutes away from Granada. We hung out for a little just dancing and drinking tinto and hanging out with everyone until the water fight that started at 12. There were thousands of people crammed into this street running around with buckets, water guns, water balloons etc., their source of water? The fire hoses that the locals ... read more

¡Me encanta la playa! First of all, I did not go to Salobreña, but it is all of 10 minutes from Almuñécar, and that city was not listed. Sad face. Well, I woke up early to grab breakfast and then meet up with my travelling buddies for the day. We met at the bus station (25 minute walk) around 945 for our 10am bus ride. Unfortunately I had a migraine starting (i think from lack of water, DRINK WATER! I have been drinking a lot, but it gets so hot sometimes I don´t think i am drinking enough). The bus was actually more comfortable than the train. The only problem was that we drove on some winding roads, therefore, I started to get a bit car sick. (It didnt help that the driver had to keep ... read more

Not one of the most famous Costas...it was no Costa del Sol or Costa Brava. But there were a lot of ex-pats wearing socks and sandals and a supermarket that sold HP Sauce and PG Tips (but no Marmite. What's that about?)... Salobrena is quite a small beach resort with a black sand beach - which is probably why it's not so popular with the package deal tourists. Apparently it is quite popular with the Spanish though. The main part of the town is by the beach, with the old Moorish quarter cascading down the side of the hill behind ... read more

Hola! So, as many of you know, I spent one of my last two weekends in Granada at the beach! Yea! Laura and I went to Salobrena with a whole group of friends. There were eight of us in all that stayed in a small apartment really close to the beach. Put it this way, we could see the beach from the deck that the apartment had! Anyway, we left Friday morning and by about 1:00pm we were on the beach! The water was a little cool, but the beach was hot so it was nice, until your body went numb anyway. We all stayed the first night and then the next day a couple of the girls that came with us had to go back to Granada, so there were only five of us ... read more
