settlement Corral del Carbon Today we were on our way at 10 o'clock. A few clouds looked promising. Who knows it might control the temperature. The aim was to or rather climb to the St Nicolas church, because the view supose to be spectacular. Map in hand, working our way through the maze of cobbled streets and steps. Ha. They always forget the little connecting bits. When asking locals they just point up with a smile, as to say Good Luck, with that. But with huffing and puffing, sauna in the pants and in the back, we got there. And it was indeed spectacular. The Alhambra looks from here a collection of square build ons. That is logical, because each new King or Ruler put their stamp on it. Actual, the Alhambra is a settlement, palace and fortress all in one. On our way up we passed another Settlement, called Corral Del Carbon. It dates from 1300-1332. We walked through some real unique looking streets and arrived at the plaza the St Nicolas, where the scenic views as we said were spetacular. The Plaza is the centre of the old Albasin. It was an important meeting place in the Iberian and Roman times. We felt

the entrance very lucky that there was a watering hole close to the plaza. An ice tea was very welcome. Now the long way back and looking at the sun there was no escaping of that. The people, that worked their way down, tried to walk in the little stripe of shade that was offered from the houses around. But we made it. Down at the square we knew was a nice cold water tap, where we could refill our water bottles. At the Hotel we had a nice shower, later a meal. We tried the famous Spanish drink the Sangria. Very nice and refreshing. Tomorrow we go where we came for,The Alhambra. Till than Liz & Allan
