First day proper yesterday was spent recovering from a very late flight into Gibraltar followed by an even longer effort to hire the car. Finally we set off and arrived at Roche Vieja in the very early hours of Monday. so yesterday was all about just getting sorted. Today was first proper day and we went over to Verjer de la Frontera a beautiful hill top walled town about 20 minutes away. It overlooks the River Barbate and has been settled over the centuries by Bronze Age people, the Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, the Moors and then the Spanish (in a variety of forms) and Napoleons army too.
