Want to travel Med, confused about Eurail

Hi All!

My husband and I are trying to organise our travels in Europe.
For our first trip, we want to visit places in the Mediterranean....
Well what we had in mind was Definately Greece, the Greek Islands, Turkey Italy and maybe Croatia and Slovenia.
(Croatia and Slovenia just because I like the look of the photos! But think they would also be neat places to visit)

What we are confused about is...which direction we should head to fit them all in.
Like Turkey, hop along the greek islands to greece, then up to Croatia, Slovenia and to Italy, or Italy from Greece the to Croatia and Slov?

NO IDEA!

Need to oneway flights from the Uk anyway.

Would appreciate some help if you have any advice on direction, good places to visit, and if it would be worth doing Eurail for just these places??

With the Eurail...we also dont get that you buy the pass..but then still need to pay when you check in on the train?

We have about 3-4 weeks to get ourselves sorted.

Cant wait to hear from someone in the Know!
