Yugoslav Wars

War is where the young and stupid are tricked by the old and bitter into killing each other.

One of the biggest wars that I have never heard of is the Yugoslav wars. If you didn't know, Yugoslavia was a very big country that was created after the destruction of World War I.

The Yugoslav Wars were actually a series of wars- from 1994-2001, leading to the liberation of these countries from Yugoslavia:

Bosnia and Herzegovina
Slovenia
Croatia
Serbia
Montenegro
Macedonia
Kosovo (Just recently in 2008)

After these countries separated one after another , Yugoslavia fell apart and didn't exist no more. Serbia and Montenegro was actually one country, called Serbia and Montenegro, until Montenegro separated from Serbia between 2006 and 2008. Kosovo is a little country, just separated from Serbia in 2008.
The main reason of this war; ethnicity. These wars were very very very complex. The wars ended at various stages and mostly resulted in full international recognition of new sovereign territories, but with massive economic disruption to the successor states. Some of the tactics used was ethnic cleansing... War rape occurred as a matter of official orders as part of ethnic cleansing, to displace the targeted ethnic group. There were massacres and yes, even rape camps- where the purpose of these camps was to impregnate the Bosnian and Croatian women.
