me again...

trying to remember where i left off...

in moscow we went to red squre at night... very beautiful!!
also ended up going to lenin's mausoleum - this was quite a weird experience not entirely sure what i think of the whole thing - seems bizarre... the space was seriously dark and it's quite an official process... got told off for having my hands in pockets... told we were not allowed to talk or stop walking... strange the guards jus directed you through using hand signals - all very strange - it was like we were entering some cult hq...

in the afternoon we headed for gorky park - from what we'd read contained a sculpture park and art gallery - this was an entirely bizarre afternoon - there were sculptures - but hundreds all scattered around in a relatively small area... decided it was where sculpture came to die... jus masses of them... was actually quite eerie as it was like they had jus been forgotten... when we got to the gallery the exhibtion turned out to be on russian FASHION week - have to say we opted out - didn't quite feel the part considering we were wearing are scruffy kit..!!

we caught our second train the other day from moscow to ekaterinburg... as we left moscow it was snowing... so so pretty! got on the train with no problems... was slightly worried we might have been approaching this too confidently... but all was fine...! made it!

we pitched up here assuming it would be easy to sort out somewhere to stay... we were jus slightly off the mark with that - arrived in the evening lugged our evil bags to the hotel we thought sounded most promising from our tran-siberian handbook - entered what we thought was the hotel only to be told it no longer existed... dragged ourselves to the next one on the hit list to be told there was no room at the inn...!! the mare (dad!!) couldn't have been less helpful considering we're two young girls wandering in search of a place to lay our heads!! became slightly alarmed at the thought of being homeless for the evening... eventually stayed in an expensive place... totally over budget... oops - very plush!! we decided to jus make the most of it... had a BATH - yay!! felt like we were in pretty woman... washed our grubby outfits... mine consisting of two i've got going on rotation!! all i can say is think we made back our money back with the feast of a breakfast we had - we love our food and the sight of that this morning made our day - simple pleasures!! looked like something out of that Hook film, minus the food fight!! seriously quite the highlight - didn't know where to start - there was tons of grub!! yum

need to stay on the ball with the time difference thing... really is confusing as all trains run on moscow time - however on our trip further along our local time will be x5 hours ahead of this - so it's going to be disorientating living by local time but catching trains using moscow time.... baffling!!

right off to eat now... catching our next train to krasnoyarsk later tonight... xxx
