hey all

so i thought i should get some words up here...

am sat wirting this from russia... well moscow to be exact..!! we started in st.petersburg so already in bad habits have neglected the blog..
am sat with dan emailing back home..

we arrived in moscow this morning, very very early so feels like we've been here a few
days already!! we caught our first of many trains last night - so we took the red arrow express train from st.petersburg to moscow - it was sooo much fun and actually
was quite stress free... we were slightly worried as obviously catching the train when everything is completely in russian didn't seem like the easiest of things.. but went fine as we did a wee rece the day before... as i said the train was fun.. reminded me of hols travelling through europe as a kid!!! had such a good night's sleep.. it was really fancy as well... we
thought it'd be pretty basic but was great! had really nice people in our carriage which was cool as started to slight freak out at the train station as we seemed to be surrounded by randoms.. bonded with the other ladies in our carriage... a russian girl and woman - whose daughter studies in london... i know this as she showed us a pic and gave me her
address... not quite sure what im supposed to do with it but was fun anyway... we're adjusting to moscow - we didn't realise there'd be such a difference in the two cities!! st.petersburg was full of very grand architecture that seemed to tired and neglected... our hostel there was in this beautiful old building - will have to try get pics up but not quite sure how yet...?!?!chris... help?!? st.peter was really dusty too... moscow seems huge in comparison - have been walking around all day... think we're both v.sleepy now!! mum don't think have ever walked so much in all my life... argh!!

you should have seen us this morning... both still half asleep as we'd jus woken up on the train then got off and landed ourselves in the crazy busy moscow morning rush hour!! chris you think victoria's bad - oh my god!!! russians going in all directions and moving you out the way if you stop to read sign!! it was seriously funny... was jus chaos as no one tries to organise it - it's jus a free for all!! (that's one thing we've noticed actually queing is some made up english thing, unknown to russian people!!!) we actually ended up jus getting a coffee and letting it subside before we entered into their metro fun!!!

actually thought i might pass out this morning too making our way over to our hostel... we're both totally struggling with the weight of our bags... think might try ditch items already.. can't decide if we've over packed or jus jus simply weak... !!

we think we're something of a curiosty over here... as we look so young (convinced we look like a pair a teenage rubaways!! ) and a lot of our kit is the same but often jus different colours... it's been fine though haven't felt unsafe at all

one of the highlights of today has been seeing red square and st.basil's cathedral... me and dan think it looks like something out of a disney movies!! they do love a domed building / cathedral over here... it's quite bizarre actually.. you'll jus be walking and turn a corner and come across a crazy ornate building

we've been trying to sort out mongolian part of the trip as well yesterday... have emailed a v.helpful guy we met at one of those travel fairs.. so hopefully we'll get that all sorted!!

anyway will go have rambled enough... and time's about to go... sorry about the spelling but keyboard has both russian and english symbols... oops!!

love steph.xxx
