הדרך לאולן-אודה - The way to Ulan-Ude

לאחר שסיימנו את מעללינו במחוז מגדאן שמנו פעמינו אל עבר ימת באיקל, הימה הגדולה בעולם מבחינת נפח, ששטחה פי 1.5 משטח ישראל. מחצית מהדרך נסענו בשיירה של 3 רכבים עם החברים שהכרנו: אולגה וויטאלי, ואדים, סרגיי ומישקה הקטן. היה לנו חיבור מדהים לאנשים האלה והיו ערבים כיפים ומיוחדים איתם.

היינו ב"עיר המתה", שהיא עיר נטושה מתקופת השלטון הסובייטי. העיר אכלסה עובדי מכרות אבל ננטשה בשנות ה-90 אחרי שהשלטון הסובייטי נפל והצטמצם נפח העבודה. עיר של אלפי אנשים עומדת ריקה כאילו עזבו אותה ביום אחד, עדיין יש רהיטים, ספרים ובגדים בדירות, מכתבים בתאי הדואר כבישים, שלטים והמון מכוניות הרוסות.

אסתר לובה חוותה זמנים קשים כשביום אחד התפוצץ האגזוז, הסרן האחורי התחיל לטפטף שמן, הצירייה עשתה רעש והקלאץ' הפסיק לתפקד. נאלצנו לעבור שוב ביאקוטסק בשביל להכניס אותה למוסך. זה אמנם לקח לנו יומיים, אבל בזכות העיכוב הרווחנו ביקור במוזיאון הפרמה-פרוסט וביקור נוסף בבאניה של גיאורגי. בגלל העיכוב איבדנו לכמה ימים את חברינו לשיירה וחשבנו שכבר לא נתראה יותר, אבל לשמחתינו ואדים ראה אותנו במקרה בצד הדרך, ומשם המשכנו שוב בשיירה ועשינו חניית לילה משותפת אחרונה ליד אגם מקסים.

כשהגענו לכביש הראשי של רוסיה (זה שעובר לאורך המסילה הטרנס-סיבירית) נפרדנו מהחברים והמשכנו לאולן-אודה, על כביש אספלט סלול! כבר התרגלנו כל-כך לדרכי העפר של יקוטיה שכביש כזה היה תענוג לנהיגה. חגגנו לאסתר-לובה יום-הולדת 100,000 ק"מ (או 200,000, מי יודע? אין ספרת אלפים בספידומטר...) וקצת אח"כ הגענו לאולן-אודה, ושוב פעם - למוסך...



After we finished our adventures in Magadan region, we headed towards Lake Baikal, the largest lake in the world in terms of volume, with an area of 1.5 times the area of ​​Israel. Half the time we traveled in a convoy of three vehicles with the new friends we met: Olga and Vitaly, Vadim, Sergey and little Mishka. We had an amazing connection with these people and had nice and special evenings with them.

We've been to "The Dead City", which is an abandoned city from the Soviet times. The city was populated by mine workers and was abandoned in the '90s after the Soviet Union collapsed and the work volume was cut down. A city of thousands people left empty one day, and there are still furniture, books and clothing in the apartments, letters in mailboxes, roads, signs and lots of wrecked cars.

Ester Luba experienced hard times when in a single day the exhaust exploded, the rear axle started to ooze oil, the axial made noises and the clutch stopped functioning. We had to go through Yakutsk again, to bring it to the garage. Although it took us two days, we earned a visit to the Permafrost museum and another visit to George's Banya. Because of the delay we lost touch with our convoy for a few days and we thought we'd never see each other again, but fortunately, Vadim saw us in coincidence on the side of the road, and then we continued in convoy and we shared a nice last camping site next to a lovely lake.

When we got to the main road of Russia (the one that runs along the Trans-Siberian railway) we parted of our friends and continued to Ulan-Ude, on a paved asphalt road! We've already been used to bad dirt roads that it was a pleasure to drive. Ester-Luba celebrated a 100,000km birthday (or 200,000, who knows? There is no thousands digit in the speedometer...) and a little later we reached Ulan-Ude, and again - to the garage ...
