So after 4 days in Hungary we headed to Romania via Debrecen
where we needed to change money and get fuel and some gas for our cooking. The
easy part was fuel and money change the gas part was difficult until we came
upon an out of the way place called Dorcus Camping which runs a camp site 12 km
out of town where they also look after poor children from broken families.
Anyway they thought we look like we needed help and they rang a chap who
appeared some 30 mins later with a change over cylinder. Fantastic and off we
set very grateful for their help.

However whilst we were stuffing around time had marched on
and when we crossed into Romania we were in for a big shock. Romania is
definitely the poor peripheral country, road were not so good and the traffic a
little more random.

The first town is dominated by a coal burning power station
and the place just looked like we had seen in India. So we pushed on until we
realised we were not going to make the campsite we had intended on getting to.
So at a very old and crappy camping sign we turned off the road into an orchard
that looked like it was a camping place some 10 years ago. Pulled up and
quickly had dinner with the intent of erecting the tent when it got dark.

Well apparently we had been spotted and before long the
owner appeared and in sign language indicated that if we were going to sleep
here it was okay. So lisa then said to me how about you give him one of our
caps we brought along. And so I did and he was very happy. He had a very large
scare on his head from a previous accident and so was happy with the hat to
offer some protection.

Excellent sleep and early rise. We headed in the direction
of a town called Sibiu where we found a camp for the night and intend on
driving the famous Romania road that featured on TopGear some time back. (Transfăgărășan highway) The mountain is currently shrouded in clouds and rain so hope it will clear
tomorrow.

Tomorrow came and to our surprise the rain had not only set in but ... bugger us if the road was not lined with snow. Not warm in Romanian summer time, ps we are told by the locals winter is -20 or -30 deg so I think we are lucky. We assume the

We did not loiter very long around these rather unstable cliffs as the fallen rocks were not small.
Top Gear Guys must have waited patiently to get the doco they shot as it was clouded in when we saw it at the height of tourist season.
