"Oh god I feel like I've forgotten something". "Well at least I've got my interrail card with, the most important thing on the trip. I really don't need anything else!" My train don't leave until 8.20 am so I have some time to spend. I'm going to Pressbyrån and buying a take away coffee and a book called the book thief, which I think is a perfect travel book. 20 minutes later I'm sitting on the train to Lund. The first thing I do is checking my phone but then I realise that I've promised myself to only use my phone If I really need it. So instead I start to read my new book. It doesn't take long until I am hooked, the book is about the Second World War and since I'm on my way to Poland I decide that I have to visit the consentration camp Auswitch. The train reaches Lund 11.40 and 10 minutes later I'm on the next train to Ystad. One hour later I'm walking around on the streets of Ystad, searching for a lunch restaurant. I search on my phone for lunch in Ystad and the firs link is "Miso sushi" Hamngatan 11. When I'm looking it up on the map I realise that It's closer then I thought. The sushi was delicious, but I realise that the ferry which is going to take me to swinoujscie, Poland leaves in 15 minutes. It's really hard to run with my heavy bag but I make it in time with only a few minutes margin. I'm about to spend 6 hours on this depressing ferry, but at least It was really cheap, and I have my book! Fortunately I make a new friend called Lise. Lise is Danish and we have the same interests, music, photos etc, we talk for hours until the ferry reaches Swinoujscie. The first thing I do is finding a dinner place in the city called Karczma polska. Really hard finding something vegetarian so I had to go with fish. While I'm eating my weird but kind of good fish a man, about 20 years old asks where I'm from. We start talking and as politics is coming up we realise we have very different opinions. The discussion is starting to derail so I decide to leave. I check my phone and realise that I've missed my train to Kraków. Damn it! What am I supposed to do now? I start to walk down the street when suddenly a car honks at me. I turn around and there is Lise in the car. I jump in the car and asks where she's going, she sais that she's going to Kraków an that I can go with her if I want! This must be the destiny! The whole ride takes 10 hours and we're in Kraków at 8 am. Lise and I decide that we're going to Auswitch later that day. I find a hotel in Kraków called Qubus hotel Zlotoryja, 4 stars, very central but not that expensive. Lise picks me up with her car 12 am and on our way we're trying to prepare ourselves to this emotional experience. We're going for a guided tour which starts at 13.30. The tour goes on for 4 hours and these hours are hard to describe. In the beginning of the tour we watch a movie about the extermination of the Jews, it's horrible even though I learn a lot. The guide shows us the rooms where the people lived, the tiny beds, children's clothes and the gas chamber where they got killed. It is horrible. It feels like I get so close to the extermination. When you hear that 1 million people got killed it's such an unimaginable amount. But when you get to see where these people lived it's hard not to cry your eyes out. Me and Lise couldn't stop crying. After Auswitch we're going to Lises place to drink some tea and talk it all through(she's renting an appartment a few blocks away from my Hotel) and later that night we're going to a bar called antycafe. I'm having a great time, Krakóws night life is much better than I expected. See you next week!
