When we woke up it was still raining!

The morning was spent driving along the intricately engineered road between Bergen and Stavanger. It goes along the indented coast and crosses several islands using two ferries, three undersea tunnels, a suspension bridge and numerous bridges.

Fortunately just before we arrived in Stavanger it finally stopped raining and we had an interesting afternoon looking around the harbour, market, cathederal, a 19th century sardine cannery museum ( the sardine then died out) and the old quarter of this attractive city centre.

After yet another ferry crossing we stayed at the village of Solvik where we managed to get the first television signal for over a month which enabled us to watch England’s disappointing world cup draw with the USA.
