Day 37: Monday 12th. June 2006: Sunny and hot: We walked to the Bus that took us up the hill and another short walk further up the hill to our hostel Montana halfway up the mountain with fabulous views over Bergen and the harbour. We went into town for a walk around the harbour and had fish and chips from a kiosk. It was lovely having time to walk around the beautiful city.
Day 38: Rain, cloud then sunny: We decided to walk down the mountain so found a pathway, steps and road, through a park, around the lake and over a bridge to the city. We came across lovely views, flowers and nature. We had a visit to the Leper Museum - very sad but interesting. Onto a tram for a little tour around town and up the mountain along walk tracks with magnificent views again. After lunch we walked around the "old town" to the fort and palace then up the mountain on the Fenicular. At the top we met Dawn and Pat from the ship - they walked down the hill we went back on the car.
Day 39: Sunny: We found a different route
to walk into town via 2 cemeteries on small plots of land, to the library where we sent e-mails. We found the libraries had the best computers to use. We had a walk around the peninsular and then into the aquarium and little nature area where they actually had some reptiles from Australia. After lunch we made our way over and up to the cable car to go to the top of the mountain where 2 chaps were playing Edvard Grieg music - Peer Gynt Suite - Hall of the Mountain King. The scenery was spectacular and worth the trip made very scary because the wind was blowing the cable cars causing them to sway significantly so they banged the side of the landing bay.
